What is ADLA?
The Arab Distance Learning Academy "ADLA" project is a distance learning Academy that delivers both academic and professional programs that particularly address the information and skill gap of the region and aim at developing the Arab skills, capabilities and expertise as an attempt to empower the Arab world to take an active role in today's global hyper-competitive world.

As technology becomes more and more ubiquitous and affordable, distance learning carries the greatest potential to train masses in the Arab world. The Proposed ADLA project exploits the distance learning technology and acts as a knowledge hub for all leading Arab academic and training institutions linking them to each other's resources and students, and connecting them to the global knowledge and resources.

"Realizing that continuous learning is crucial for the development of economies and nations, ADLA aims at establishing an Arab distance learning Academy that offers the Arab region a convenient, easily accessible and equitable quality learning that utilizes state-of-the art distance learning techniques with the chief objective of developing the skills and competencies of the Arab workforce so as to build a competent labor force that's capable of competing in the global economy"

Objectives, Goals and Target Audience?
    OBJECTIVES:
    Since higher education is increasingly presented as the key element in developing and maintaining a world class Arab workforce, the strategic objectives of ADLA are:
    • Developing a competent, skillful and proficient Arab Workforce by establishing a regional hub that pools and links the most reputable Arab academic and training institutions and providing equally accessible, expanded, quality lifelong education opportunities from these institutions through the utilization of the evolving distance-learning technology, and thus, bridge the knowledge and information gaps that are currently present in the region.
    • Employing the distance learning technology and facilities to revolutionize and transform the learning experience through the delivery of a courseware that's localized, personalized, updated, and interactive that reaches a geographically dispersed Arab learners all over the region.
    • Constructing the foundations of the distance learning technological infrastructure and know-how in the Arab world that's based on international standards and updated on modern trends as an attempt to empower the region to take an instrumental role in the global e-learning community.
    • Achieving Arab cooperation through the implementation of a Pan-Arab project that clusters the educational and training enterprise in one distance learning academy allowing them to exchange ideas, information, knowledge, and joint research.
    • Developing the capabilities and skills of the Arab labor and, hence, becoming a practical example of a developmental Region.
    GOALS:
    • Capitalizing on the already established technological infrastructure of the Global Campus so as to construct an advanced, multilingual LMS system that make the educational content accessible, facilitates all the learning processes over the web, and makes possible maximum interactivity and personalization of the content.
    • Compiling a pool of content material for the two programs, academic and professional, from different academic and training institutions.
    • Localizing and contextualizing the content to suit the needs, circumstances and the entire culture of the Arab world.
    • Transforming the compiled content to courseware e-content that will published on the web.
    • Changing the perceptions of the whole Arab educational enterprise regarding the adoption of web-based technology as an alternative methodology for the traditional face-to-face education delivery.
    • Preparing scholarship programs that will be provided to students who fulfill pre-specified qualifications sine the provision of scholarships is an effective means of achieving the ADLA objective of providing equitable and accessible quality education.
    TARGET AUDIENCE:
    Arab students:
    Who want to pursue their higher education and career development and overcome all financial, geographic and time barriers of physical distance education by joining the academy.

    Professionals and experts:
    Who wish to advance their knowledge, capabilities and skills to understand the latest international trends in their fields of expertise through joining the training that offers accredited international professional certifications and skill-development programs.

    Instructors and trainers:
    Who wish to compile their own educational and training courses to be converted into e-content.

    Universities and training institutions:
    That are looking forward to using state-of-the-art ICT in offering their educational services to individuals that are registered in their nation or outside without encountering any geographical constraints. More importantly, The ADLA addresses all educational and training institutions that aspire to become a member in an Arab regional knowledge hub that draws together and links the Leading Arab institutions providing them with access to a pool of shared technical and intellectual resources, capabilities, experiences, and global resources.

  • Academic Program:
    • Accredited Degrees: The academy will have programs that are accredited from the participant universities. Coordination between the participant institutions will be done to guarantee that the programs offered are not competing with each other.
    • The Academic Program will cover the following subjects/areas:

      • Information Technology and Telecommunication
      • Industrial Engineering and Automatic Control
      • Applied Science and Technology
      • Eastern and Middle-Eastern studies

  • Professional Program:
    • Skill-Development Training:The academy will provide specialized professional training programs that are targeted at the Arab workforce and offered jointly with many prestigious content providers. The accreditation of the course will be done from both the content provider and the academy to emphasize the reliability of the program provided.
    • Professional Certifications: These programs aim at availing new opportunities for management and executives to gain and exchange experience and knowledge in different professional areas and fields.
    • The Professional Program will cover the following subjects/areas:
      • Information & Communication Technology
      • Literature, art and cinema
      • Automatic Control & Industrial Engineering
      • Plant Genetic Resource Planning

Services
  • Knowledge Transfer and Exchange: Global and regional knowledge and experience exchange between executives in different countries and their colleagues regionally and internationally will occur through workshops and videoconferencing sessions that are particularly targeted to Arab top management.


  • Consultancy Services: The academy will offer technical and advisory services that are tailored to the needs of its participatory Arab universities and training institutions. Such services will act as the technological building blocks for the distance learning processes as it offers all the technological facilities required for founding the project's infrastructure.


  • Learning Management System The ADLA will offer a Learning Management System (LMS) that enables learners to access, tag, store, reuse, and share material. Meanwhile, it enables institutions to track how the content is used, control use of copyrighted material, and mine collected data to yield information that can be used for the continuous improvement of the courseware. It also enables professors to track learners' performance, measure their progress, and produce detailed usage reports. It includes organizing and deploying e-Learning objects, curriculum management, managing Instructor Led Training, record tracking management and skill competency management. Additionally, it is extremely flexible in its customization and its ability to support multiple language environments.


  • Videoconferencing Videoconferencing is a way to hold meetings that otherwise might not happen. Or, if they did happen, they'd be effort, money and time exhausters. A videoconference lets you meet face-to-face as conveniently and as you can talk by phone. The ADLA will offer videoconferencing services where clients can enjoy all our advanced videoconferencing facilities and capabilities.
