Local Support Centers "LCS's" are established in many of the participating countries. Centers' facilities and services are used for meetings, videoconferencing, knowledge exchanges, or other face-to-face activities related to the academic and training topics, including courses, seminars and workshops.
LSC's Basic Services include:
- Videoconferencing:
Videoconferencing is the chief technique that the LSCs use to connect people around the world for effective, timely and interactive knowledge exchanges. Videoconferencing allows participants to see and hear each other in far-way locations, immediately react to what is said, and engage in dialogue.
- Computers and Internet:
Using computers and the Internet, students in different LSCs can interact with each other beyond the videoconferencing sessions and access the online courseware and academic resources.
- Other support:
The LSC's Centers offer all logistical, tutorial and facilitation support needed to make the distance learning successful, Such activities include:
- Ensuring that library, computing and other facilities are conform to the requirements of the validated agreements.
- Providing access to the local university library services and computing facilities as agreed at validation and with the Dean of School.
- Offering student-welfare services equivalent to those available to students on the other programs offered at the Institute.
- Undertaking the recruitment and initial selection of students.
- Presenting the content provider with the required details of all students registered on the program.
- Providing tuition arrangement and collection services in accordance to the validated program requirements
- Handling the resumes for all potential tutors and professors of the project.
